Students learn the basic principles and applications for using a
semi automatic rifle as a defensive tool.
More Details: A
DDC original firearms course, this course is approximately 5hrs in
length with an ammunition requirement of 300 rounds(.223 caliber
minimum). Students are expected to have previous firearms
experience therefore this course is largely comprised of live fire
exercises with limited classroom instruction.
Students can expect to learn the fundamentals and basics of: Safety,
mindset, rifle anatomy/function, sight-in, iron vs. optical sights,
gear and accessory placement, stance, recoil management, trigger
control, changing magazines, clearing malfunctions, shooting from
cover, and shooting on the move.
In order to attend this DDC Basic Reactive
Gunfighting-Rifle course students
must be able to provide proof of previous experience. Such proof
may include certificates for NRA Basic Rifle, other DDC firearms
courses, or proof of attendance for a carbine course from a
recognized organization i.e. Academi.
Upon completion students will receive a certificate*
authorizing them to attend the DDC Advanced
Reactive Gunfighting-Rifle course.
DDC Advanced Reactive Gunfighting-Rifle(prerequisite: DDC Basic
Reactive Gunfighting-Rifle course)
Students learn advanced principles and applications for using a semi

rounds(.223 caliber minimum). Because this is an advanced course
Students should arrive with their semi automatic rifle sighted in at
50 yards. Students can expect to learn more advanced defensive
rifle shooting techniques including:
Safety, mindset, refresh fundamentals of marksmanship (grip,
stance, recoil management, trigger control, sight picture, etc…),
advanced shooting positions including urban prone, mag changes,
malfunction drills, transitioning between shoulders, rapid fire,
shooting on the move, shooting from cover, urban tactics, and
shooting from vehicles.
Students who finish the course to the instructor’s satisfaction
will receive a certificate of completion*
*DDC instructors reserve the right to
withhold issue of certificates to students they feel need further
instruction before advancing to the next course level. DDC will
offer private instruction at a discounted rate to any student who
needs further instruction. This private instruction may result in
the student being issued said certificate retroactively.
